Gills boss Mark Stimson praised ‘keeper Alan Julian (right) despite his error that gifted Charlton their first goal last weekend. Julian let Fraser Richardson's low effort slip under him in the 31st minute, but redeemed himself with a string of good saves.
Stimson said: "He will be disappointed with the first goal, but I take nothing away from him after that because he was outstanding.
He has kept us in a few games lately, and everyone is due a mistake now and then. It’s just unfortunate that when you are a goalkeeper, there is nobody to get you out of jail."
Meanwhile Julian is hoping that his extended run in the team will catch the eye of Northern Ireland selectors and reignite his international career. He has won six caps at U21 level, but was off the radar when he left Brentford and went into non-league football at Stevenage Borough. He is happy with his form at Gills and is eager just to be involved in Northern Ireland’s senior set-up.
He said: “I’d love to get a call-up, but that’s down to Nigel Worthington (Northern Ireland manager) and the staff in charge there. I wouldn’t say I’m hurting my chances playing here. It would be nice to get in the squad, they take three goalkeepers and to be one of those would be absolutely amazing. I’m not really thinking about, I’m just concentrating on my form here and that would hopefully take care of itself.”
Full back and skipper Barry Fuller (right) missed a return to one of his former club’s on Saturday, but was involved in the pre-match warm-up with the rest of the squad. The 25-year-old is recovering from a broken arm sustained against Leyton Orient last month, and is aid to be progressing well.
Stimson said: "Barry obviously wanted to be part of things and the atmosphere. He is stepping up his running, but is still wearing a cast to protect the arm. He sees a specialist on Wednesday hopefully to have an even lighter one put on, and if that’s available he won’t be too far away.”
"I think Barry had a mad couple of minutes reading something about using an oxygen chamber to help his recovery. We looked into it but it really wouldn’t have helped his injury that much so we are steering clear of that."
Striker Mark McCammon (right) has returned to Priestfield after a month's loan at League Two side, Bradford City.
The big striker, who started only twice, could be on his way straight back out on loan - if he can find another club before today's 5pm transfer deadline.
Bantams boss Peter Taylor said: "I wouldn't think we are an easy team to play for at the minute so it was probably a little more difficult for a striker. Mark didn't join us 100 per cent match fit and I think that affected his touch and timing.
He helped James Hanson, no doubt about that, and gave him a few ideas. I said I would always keep an eye on his situation but he knows he's got to get fit. You've got to be fit in any sport."
MK Dons boss Paul Ince (left) was disappointed that individual errors from his players contributed to the 3-0 home defeat by Southampton last Saturday.
Saints hot shot Rickie Lambert hit a hat-trick at Stadium:MK , however Ince felt the result was unfair on his side, who are seven points off of the play-offs.
He said: "I thought the result was very unjustified. Looking at the stats they probably had about four shots to our nine.
"We were excellent and at half-time you think that's half the job done. But you can't account for individual mistakes - two mistakes from two players have killed the game for us. After that our response was fantastic and we created enough chances. The third goal was just a wonder-goal. Only Lambert can do that. Until it's mathematically impossible for us to get in the play-offs, we've got to keep trying."
MK Dons assistant boss Karl Robinson has announced that the club have handed professional deals to youngsters Adam Chicksen and Charlie Collins. Full-back Chicksen has signed a two-year deal while striker Collins has signed on for 12 months.
Robinson said: "The criteria set by the manager are extremely high and for those who have not been offered contracts, we hope they go on to continue their footballing development. For those who have had positive outcomes it's the start of a long road to what we hope will be successful careers."

We have met the MK Dons or Wimbledon 22 times in total to date. Our first was back in the 1977/78 season when we lost over a two-legged League Cup first round tie 2-4 on aggregate (1-1 at Priestfield, then 1-3 at Plough Lane).
Our last meeting was at Stadium:MK back in October last year when we lost 2-0 in what can only be called a fairly dire performance, after a reasonably bright start … during which we lost Colchester loan striker Scott Vernon to injury (now with Southend on loan) after just 43 minutes into his debut.
The total record reads: Gills wins - 8, MK Dons wins - 7, draws - 7.

Gills came through last weekend's derby game with Charlton Athletic unscathed and will have Addicks loan man Chris Dickson (pictured top right) available for selection.
The striker was unable to play against his parent club due to the terms of his loan agreement.
Leading striker Simeon Jackson (hamstring and pictured bottom right) is rated 50/50, he managed 20 minutes at the Valley from the bench, but has not trained this week.
Centre-half Josh Gowling (hamstring) is likely to miss out this weekend too.
Full back and skipper Barry Fuller (broken arm) trained in the warm-up at the Valley and is hoping to be back in contention for the Easter program; however fellow defender Simon King (ankle ligaments) is still some way off a return to action.
Gills eleven from (4-4-2): Alan Julian (GK), Simon Royce (GK), John Nutter, Josh Gowling, Garry Richards, Kevin Maher, Curtis Weston, Stuart Lewis, Chris Palmer, Danny Jackman, Mark Bentley, Dennis Oli, Simeon Jackson, Chris Dickson, James Walker, Andy Barcham, Jack Payne, Tom Wynter, Luke Rooney, Rashid Yussuff, Rene Howe, Darren Dennehy, Adam Miller.
Striker Sam Baldock is Paul Ince's only injury concern ahead of this weekend's fixture. The forward is struggling with a knee injury that caused him to miss last Saturday's defeat to Southampton.
Dons eleven from (4-4-2): Willy Gueret (GK), Stuart Searle (GK), Dean Lewington (top middle) , Mathais Kouo-Doumbe, David McCracken, Sean O'Hanlon, Stephen Gleeson, Jermaine Easter (top left), Aaron Wilbraham, Sam Baldock, Mark Carrington, Lewis Gobern, Danny Woodards, James Tunnicliffe, Sol Davis, Luke Howell, Peter Leven, Darren Powell, Dean Morgan, Luke Chadwick (top right), Adam Chicksen, Mark Randall. Saturday’s referee is Mr Phil Crossley from Kent. He didn’t take up the whistle until he was 29, thereafter made rapid steps through the Suburban, Isthmian and Panel Leagues until his promotion to the National List of referees in 2002.
Was 4th official for the 2005 FL Cup Final and has refereed the FA Women’s’ Cup Final, FA Vase Final, and a Football League League One Play Off Final in addition to refereeing matches in the Premier League. He missed the 2007-08 season due to injuries.
To date this season, he has cautioned ninety-eight and sent off five in thirty games. His last game involving the Gills was our 0-0 draw at Yeovil in February this year, during which he booked just two, one of which was Adam Miller. He was last at Stadium:MK in October 2008 for the Dons 3-1 win over Carlisle.
His assistants are Mr Philip Knight from Kent and Mr Steve Rubery from Essex. Our fourth official is Mr Michael McCoy from West Sussex.
