The former Ebbsfleet shot shopper Lance has the pedigree to be an effective challenger for the Gills League Two goalkeeper jersey being an England International and Wembley winner.

24-year-old Lance Cronin has made seven international appearances for the England C National Team, the first time in November 2006, making his debut against Holland as England won the European Challenge Trophy.

Gills new goalie has also made over 150 appearances for Ebbsfleet and collected a winners medal when they won the F.A. Trophy at Wembley in May 2008 against Torquay United.

Lance started his career at Crystal Palace but they offered him on loan to Wycombe during the 2004–05 season and then released him. He then joined Oldham for a short period as a non-contract player and also Shrewsbury, in the same capacity, to provide cover for their regular goalkeeper.

Lance then joined Ebbsfleet United also as a cover for the long-term injury to their regular goalkeeper Craig Holloway. After an excellent start in his first season at Ebbsfleet, Lance was then called up for England.

On Saturday in the game between Ebbsfleet and Gills, Andy Hessenthaler sent on Lance as sub with a few minutes to go and afterwards said, "We gave Lance the chance to say goodbye to the Ebbsfleet fans because he is leaving and it was nice for him. He is obviously well thought of at the club."
