DANNY SPILLER POSSIBLY GOING FOR A BURTON
TUESDAY 7 February 2012
Some possible good news for Gills and Andy Hess is the return to the first team squad of combative midfielder Danny Spiller in readiness for the Burton Albion match.
Danny has been out of contention since the away game against Southend United at Roots Hall last September where he injured his knee.
Danny has only played eight times for Gills this season for a combined total of 500 minutes on the pitch scoring twice, once away at Crewe, and the other strike was at Barnet’s Underhill ground.
Gills physiotherapist, Steve Allen, told the official site, "Danny ran with me and did some CV work. He is fine and I don't see any problems with him coming back towards the end of the week for selection against Burton, if required.”
However, Allen is cautious and doesn't want Danny doing more harm to himself by coming back to early, "He is a couple of weeks later than expected but sometimes you have to take a step back when things don't settle down. It won't take him long to get back but he needs to condition his body back to playing.”
The experienced Steve Allen continued, "The last thing is for Danny to go back to training too early. We don't want him having three months off and then doing his hamstring so we have to be a little patient."
