Martin Riley has taken the unusual step of paying his own transfer fee in order to make the move from the Kiddies to the Robins and link up with former boss Mark Yates. 22 year-old Riley was unable to leave Aggborough on a free due to him being under 24 and the Robins couldn’t afford the fee.

Former MK Dons forward Dean Morgan has signed a one year deal with the Spireites after snubbing a number of clubs who were vying for his signature. The 26 year-old free agent joined Aldershot on loan at the end of last season and has since been training with Crystal Palace in pre-season.

The Club has revealed that a new temporary stand will be erected on the Blackfriars End at Edgar Street and provide seating for 650 away supporters. The stand will be ready in time for the visit of Oxford United on September 11.

The stand is a temporary measure until the Blackfriars End is re-developed.

Former Gills midfielder Albert Jarrett now a rising star for the Imps has been called up by Sierra Leone for their match against Egypt in Cairo. Jarrett's involvement against the Africa Cup of Nations champions means he will miss two Lincoln matches. Albert has played five times so far for his country.

The Cobblers on loan Spurs keeper, Oscar Jansson, has said he would like to extend his Sixfields stay. Jansson told BBC Radio Northampton, “As long as I'm playing, I'm happy to stay”.

The Millers have signed 24 year-old Nigerian striker Jeremiah Ani on an initial one month deal after impressing boss Ronnie Moore during a pre-season friendly against Tamworth. Ani is now in the squad for their trip to Edgar Street having received his international clearance from the FA to play.

Good connections at Stamford Bridge has proved fruitful to U’s boss Chris Wilder after he snapped up former England U-17 midfielder Danny Philliskirk on a months loan from Chelsea. The 19 year-old former Oldham Athletic trainee was signed by ex-Blues boss Jose Mourinho for a big fee in 2007.

Loanee defender Chris Barker has been told by Pilgrims boss Peter Reid he has no future at Home Park and is now hoping to extend his stay at Roots Hall after the away game with Bradford City. The 30 year-old who has been an ever present with the Shrimpers could make it into a season long loan.

The Shrews teenage talent Tom Bradshaw has earned his first international recognition. Tom has been named in the Wales under-19 squad for the away friendly in Liechtenstein next month. The 18-year-old burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion as he struck two goals on his debut at Crewe in April.

The Valiants Board of Directors have rejected a £500,000 cash injection from businessman Mike Newton by a majority of 5-3. The Club are expected to post annual losses of around £400,000 for the previous year and Newton’s proposals included replacing Vale’s current chairman Bill Bratt.

SkySports will be showing the Boro v Pompey Carling Cup first round tie live from Broadhall Way on Monday August 9th with a 7.45 kick-off. The match will also mark the first ever meeting between the two clubs and Boro’s debut in the Carling Cup after promotion from the Blue Square Premier.

The Gulls have agreed a £35,000 compensation package for the transfer of 22 year-old winger Mustapha Carayol to Lincoln City. A Football League panel was due to decide the fee before both parties reached an 11th hour settlement that includes a £15,000 down payment plus 20% sell on clause.

According to reports Blackpool F.C. are on the verge of landing Wycombe Wanderers winger Matt Phillips before the deadline. A number of clubs have been linked with the 19-year-old but it seems Blackpool are favourites to win the race for his signature by offering a three-year deal.
